Iran: Bush is a War Criminal

It will probably come as no shock that Iran has negative things to say about George Bush.  Popular media in the United States seems to be pulling no punches to vilify Iran and make it appear to be the next biggest threat to this country. reports about Iran’s leader’s words in Iran’s Khamenei says Bush is war criminal comparable to Hitler.  From the article:

Iran’s supreme leader Friday compared U.S. President George W. Bush to Adolf Hitler and predicted that he would eventually be brought to court as a war criminal.

“The day will come that Bush would be brought to a war tribunal for the catastrophe he caused in Iraq. He has to be called to account just like in the case of Hitler and Saddam,” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in the Friday prayer ceremony in Tehran.

“[Bush] has to reply to the simple question why a rich country like Iraq has no water, no electricity, no hospitals, no schools… the only thing the U.S. brought into Iraq was terrorism,” Khamenei added.

The primary difference between standard political rhetoric and these statements is that these actually have some validity.  While there’s little chance that the American people would ask George Bush to explain his actions, the world certainly will.  It will be interesting to how Americans react if Bush is ever held accountable for these atrocities.  My guess is that most people will claim that they didn’t (or couldn’t) have known the truth about what happened in Iraq.  Sadly, no one even wants to investigate these details, and U.S. media most certainly won’t provide coverage of the facts.  Whether people agree with Khamenei or not, I think they owe it to themselves to at least consider the accusations.
